About Linda

I began my coaching business, Getting Clear,
in 1994. I have been actively involved for over a
decade in the Attention Deficit Disorder Association
(ADDA) – the leading ADHD organization focused
on the needs of adults with ADHD. During the past
four years, I have served on the ADDA board. This
year I serve as President of ADDA.
When I graduated with a Master of Arts degree in English
literature from Northwestern University in 1971, I
had no idea I would one day become a dedicated coach.
I spent the next 20 years working in the field of
education as an early childhood teacher, curriculum
coordinator and administrator. I now realize that
my leader and facilitator style, even then, was that
of a coach. My two daughters were born in the early
1980s. During the time of raising young children,
I consulted, wrote and helped to found the Bucks County
River Valley Waldorf School.
In 1993, after my own intense period of clearing
out old stuff – a material and spiritual cleansing
- an opportunity presented itself. A friend invited
me into her professional organizing business. Within
a year, I began my own business and called it Getting
Clear. From the very beginning, my approach was
different from the majority of professional organizers
I was meeting at conferences. My clients were asking
me to help them contain their lives, declutter their
thinking and help them prioritize, focus and accomplish
work-related and personal goals. Many of my clients
also began sharing their ADHD stories with me. I called
myself a professional organizer/coach, but quickly
became, first and foremost, a coach.
This was the beginning of an intense and exciting
period of education. I attended professional organizing
conferences and ADHD conferences. I also led seminars
on organizing, coaching and ADHD. I continuously read
and networked with professionals and leaders in the
ADHD field. I took coach training seminars at Coach
University and completed the Optimal Functioning Institute
program. In 2002, I was certified as a master coach
– the highest of three certification levels
– through the International Coach Federation
(ICF)
Today, in addition to serving as president of ADDA,
I am a member of the Philadelphia Area Coaches Association
(PACA); a Golden Circle member of the National Association
of Professional Organizers (NAPO); and a co-founder
of the Greater Philadelphia Chapter of NAPO. Currently,
I present coaching seminars and speak on ADHD issues,
as well as lead an advanced skills coach training
seminar in ADHD. Into all of my work, I bring creativity
and compassion, wit and wisdom.
